U-Joints Currently in Stock
Listed below are the universal joints currently in stock at Plaza. See Spicer’s yoke catalogues for the yokes compatible with each u-joint. In the “Styles” column below you can find the attaching style(s) designed for each u-joint.
Many Ways for Yokes to Connect to U-joints“UB”, “BS”, and “cap & bolt” indicates that the u-joint will attach to the yoke with U-bolt, bearing strap, or cap and bolt hardware. These methods are used with "half round" yokes.
“BP” for “bearing plate”, “OSR” for outside snap rings, and “ISR” for inside snap rings are styles that work with full round yokes. |
Note that Spicer's "HR" style provides for one cross to be connected with bearing plates (BP) while the opposite cross is connected by bearing straps (BS).
“Spring tab” is the method used with the Spicer Life series. “Wing type” is the method used for the Meritor u-joints we offer. Call our parts specialists for help in identifying a u-joint that you need to replace or finding the necessary u-bolts, bearing straps, and other bolts necessary to connect any drive shaft components. |

More About the "Length" dimension aboveThe "length" in the list above suggests the overall size of the u-joint but it is measured slightly differently depending on the type of connection. It may be the distance just between bearing plates or the distance over the bearing caps. If the u-joint converts one series to another it is also the measurement only for the first series.
|
A common way to determine a driveshaft's "series" is to measure the distance across the ears or lugs of a yoke. (That dimension is shown on this website for all yokes.) The distance across the yoke is very close but not identical to the length of the u-joint journal shown on this page.
When outside snap rings (OSR) are used, the distance across the yoke ears includes space for the outside snap ring and so the u-joint dimension is slightly shorter. When bearing plates are used, the length across the plates is slightly longer. When a bearing strap (BS) is used, the u-joint dimension is slightly shorter because it is restricted from going all of the way to the edge of the lug by a “tang” or centering tab. For the inside snap ring style the list below contains the "K1" dimension which is the distance between the snap rings. |
