Slip Yokes
What should you know to find a replacement for a slip yoke?
- Your yoke is part of a driveshaft “series”. By measuring the distance across the ears of the yoke (Dimension "E" in the first diagram below) you can identify your yoke as part of a series. (The length across the U-joint bearing caps will equal "E" when attached with bearing plates (BP) and will be slightly less than "E" when attached with outside snap rings (OSR).
- Spline outside diameter (OD) and the number of splines.
- Length of the yoke measured from the end of the splines to the C/L of the bearing holes. See dimension "J" in diagrams below.
- If the yoke is used for a transmission end, then you also need to know the hub diameter.

The length of the yoke is the “J” dimension (above). The method of attachment to the u-joint is ISR (inside snap ring), OSR (outside snap ring), or BP (bearing plate). The bearing strap method is not shown. The most common complimentary u-joint part number is shown.
All slip yokes are for use as part of a drive shaft unless “transmission use” is noted. The spline measurement includes outside diameter and number of splines.
