Stemco’s Pro-Torq axle nuts may provide the highest degree of precision with wheel bearing adjustments and also the greatest ease of use. Below you will find the Stemco sizes currently in stock along with the part numbers for the compatible outer wheel bearing cone and bearing cups and the axle models which these nuts will fit.
Traditionally wheel ends require an inner nut, an outer nut, and washer all of which contribute to lock the outer wheel bearing in place. Outer nuts are also known as “jam nuts” since the most torque is used to tighten them. Various methods are used for these nuts and washers. The Pro-Torq uses a “keeper” to lock the nut in place. Meritor’s “pdf” catalogue of axle nuts and washers includes cross references to OE part numbers and axles and can be searched to find a replacement Meritor part number.
