Bendix Designed Air Valves
The Bendix product line got its start when the Westinghouse Air Brake company was established in 1869. One page is not big enough to cover the many valves that continue in service. A truck driver begins to use the brakes by using his foot and we start therefore with the foot valves or "brake valves" using Bendix terminology. Parking (Spring) brakes are applied using push-pull (dash control) valves and a number of variations have been necessary as braking regs to cover emergency situations continue to expand. The last item on our list is "all other" where you will find some of the most essential valves including "quick release" and "pressure protection".
