Heavy Duty Clutches
"Sure Shift" clutches replace the “Easy Pedal”
For many years Plaza has offered new and remanufactured Eaton clutches but we believe now that there are better replacement clutches than Eaton. What we have to offer today are not remanufactured clutches but brand new clutches that are identical to the original Eaton designed clutch (except for several features that exceed the performance of an Eaton). This is not a Chinese-produced Easy Pedal clutch but a Baltimore-Maryland-USA clutch. It is produced using the most advanced cell manufacturing process along with the most advanced quality control in the industry. American ingenuity has returned!
Advantages of
the “Sure Shift” Clutch
- A One Year Unlimited Mileage warranty that matches Eaton’s current aftermarket warranty policy
- Meets all of the original Eaton specifications such as using the identical quality for springs, identical friction material, even the same grease.
- Engineering breakthroughs designed to overcome weaknesses in Eaton’s original product. Improved fabrication of the dampening springs has increased disc life by 30%. And a change to a coarse-threaded adjusting ring reduces the likelihood that the ring will skip threads or seize up from contamination.
- An adjuster mechanism that now locks in your adjustment.
- A release bearing that is now sealed from contamination.
- Dual zerk fitting ports on all high torque units.
- A strap drive pressure plate to avoid the problems associated with return springs
The “Beast” is a “Sure Shift” clutch that can be used for all 6-paddle, high torque applications.
While the clever engineers were improving on the Easy Pedal design they discovered several secrets to a long life clutch. The result of putting all of these ideas into one package are two clutch models rated at a whopping 2050 and 2250 ft/lbs of torque. This new improvement is so much better than an Easy Pedal that this Sure Shift clutch is being called the “Beast”.
A small “Beast” can handle an engine with 475-525 HP. The large “Beast” will handle 525-600 HP. The “Beast” design will replace 108391-93H, 108935-91, 108925-82H, 108925-20, and 108925-25.

The answer to a weakness with the Eaton 14” stamped steel clutch, pn 107237-10 (we even call it "the answer")
Our clever engineers attacked a release problem with this clutch and found the solution by using a free floating center plate with a steel ring instead of the original flywheel adapter ring. The advantages of this improved design for you are 20% more clutch life and fewer clutch replacements because the new center plate allows for the use of thicker friction material. Also the free floating center plate works just like the ones used in Eaton’s cast iron clutches resulting in a cleaner release. Plaza is also stocking these models NEW as replacements for the Eaton 107237-10 and 107342-12.

How to Select the Right Replacement Clutch
You can replace your current clutch with a direct equivalent but there are options. When a company like D&W remanufactures a lot of clutches, they begin to understand what makes a customer happy. They recommend that you consider replacing your clutch with the highest torque rated disc that your flywheel will accommodate in order to increase clutch life. (Their advice assumes, of course, that your current clutch is not worn out because of driver abuse which is best remedied by education.)
The measurement that determines what your flywheel will accomodate is the flywheel "id" (also called bore) or the number of dampening springs which are directly related to the flywheel bore. There have been only three different flywheel id’s used in all of the years that diesel truck engines have been produced per the following chart.
| Flywheel ID | Springs | Years Produced |
| 7.25 | 8 | up to 1988 |
| 8.562 | 10 | 1985-1998 |
| 9.75 | 6,7, & 9 | 1992-present |
At Plaza we work with D&W to advise you about the options that you have for replacing your clutch. We do not stock all of the clutch replacement options that you may have but, we can arrange to expedite shipping from the extensive inventory maintained by D&W.
