Steering and Front Axle
You can expect a lot of wear on the steering components of a truck and with wear comes an unsafe loss of control. Therefore Plaza stocks many of the front axle parts that are subject to the most wear. On heavy duty trucks these components are king pins, king pin bushings, tie rod ends, and drag links. On light duty trucks there are ball joints and idler arms.
The king pin serves as the pivot point which attaches the wheel spindle to the axle beam and may be the most critical component of the front axle. All Dayton Parts’ king pins utilize high quality steel and are heat treated for strength and long life. The king pin bushing provides a snug fit for the king pin. Nylon bushings are easy to install but wear out faster in severe service applications such as refuse and dump vehicles. Steel backed bronze (bimetal) provide longer mileage and closer tolerances.
Dayton Parts’ tie rod ends feature a dual bearing that limits ball stud end movement and wear. If movement or looseness is felt between the tie rod ends and the tie rod arms, you should replace the tie rod ends.
